The Reaping: My Take

I’m not exactly a sucker for horror movies but I have just got to go against the tide and say that “The Reaping” doesn’t deserve the measly 5.3/10 rating that IMDB has given it. Based on a modern revamp of a 60’s movie, this one deals with supposed ten biblical plagues that are visited upon a small town and how a former missionary is called upon to get to the base of it all. Thankfully this isn’t a horror flick with zombies walking out of crypts- it’s more on the lines of The Omen, if you know what I mean, and is thus immensely more enjoyable. The movie builds up briskly enough and there are quite a few moments to give the average Hollywood horror flick a run for its money. The climax though is a little too blown up for comfort but the anti-climax makes up for it adequately enough. I’ll definitely give this one a more healthy 7.2 and suggest whosoever would heed my suggestion to give it a watch.
Even if you don’t find this one remarkable in any way I can assure you that it won’t at least be so unbearable as to make you want to walk out of the AC into the sweltering heat as say, John Cena’s “Marine” would.
P.S: The Marine is one of those movies that classifies as being so bad that it makes bad movies look like Oscar winning material. Definitely a leaf out of the Chuck Norris pages.

Some things insanely difficult to find...

Here's a compilation of things i believe to be god-awfully difficult to get hold of, arranged in what, your truly believes to be, the order of increasing dificulty...
  • Good food in the vicinity of your office.
  • Cheap good food in the vicinity of your office.
  • A shuttle to take you from where you are, to at least halfway through to where you want to go.
  • A shuttle to take you from where you are, to where you want to go.
  • Old acquaintances who won’t brag about how well they’re doing in life.
  • A good movie on TV during the weekends.
  • A good movie you haven’t seen, on TV during weekends.
  • A decent topic to blog on.
  • People in your project with 120+ IQs.
  • A hot girl in your project.
  • A hot girl in your project who knows you.
  • A hot girl in your project who likes you.
  • “Sincere” praise.
  • Credit for a job well done.
  • Satisfaction with your current salary (more so if you are an IT professional in your tweens).
  • Admission into a management institute of your choice (the chances of this happening are increased manifold however, in case you happen to be a Marwari).
  • Solitude (especially when you really desire it).
  • Happiness.
  • Euphoria (and I’m not referring to music bands formed by doctors who couldn’t hit it off in the medical profession).

List to be updated as an when light dawns on yours truly...

Points pondered on...

If you are looking for a cocktail of creative juices to provide you with some blog-o-humour to allay the drudgery of yet another monumentally boring day in your cubicle (or some other place in the exceptional case that you are not an IT professional and still reading a blog), you are looking in the wrong place and ought to direct your search here, here or here. If your linguistic tastes are more proletariat, or if you are a glutton for depressing reads, you are welcome to read on.
Off late, life sucks. Not that I’m trying to assume an air of the existentialist bull-shit which the college goers find really cool to associate with. In that case I would have done without the “Off late” part. A friend in his utmost wisdom has attributed some quite apt expletives to Life personified. At the moment, I seem to agree. Things just haven’t been going according to plan.
“And then one day you find,
Ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run,
You missed the starting gun”
But what if you already knew when to run and did run your best too. What if the ending line just got dragged farther and farther so that you just couldn’t manage to finish the race?
Well, life’s not fair but then again I can’t help but wonder why for quite some time now, I haven’t found it to be unfair in my favour. (Take for example the fact that Himesh Reshammiya is still alive and continues to torture my auditory senses.)
Maybe I’m looking for rewards that I don’t deserve but then again, I've never heard of anyone who couldn't live with a few undeserved perks.
Maybe what I’m lacking in is patience (a grossly overrated so-called virtue, if you ask me). We are supposed to wait patiently for the fabled light at the end of the seemingly endless tunnel. It’s like advising a starving man to wait for another year by which time appetizers would surely arrive.
Maybe I’m just counting my troubles and not my joys as I ideally ought to. Maybe that would give me all the happiness and satisfaction I need. Then again, maybe the problem with me is that happiness isn’t good enough for me...maybe I’m demanding euphoria.
Maybe the secret to a satisfied life is to lower one’s expectations to the point where they are already met. Alas, I fail to do that and reality continues to deny me ecstasy (couple with it the fact that I do not have among my acquaintances a dealer of Methylenedioxymethamphetamine.) Well, enough said for now and until later “Good night and good luck”.
